SPE Denver Scholarships Recipients

Montana Tech petroleum engineering students received a total of $6,200 in scholarships from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Denver chapter. Five Montana Tech students received scholarship awards ranging from $1,100 to $1,700 each. SPE Denver provided a total of $50,000 to 33 students from 5 universities, which included Colorado School of Mines, Montana Tech, New Mexico Tech, University of North Dakota, and the University of Wyoming.

“We are very proud of these students,” said Burt Todd, head of the Petroleum Engineering Department at Montana Tech. “Their character, work ethic, and academic preparation differentiate them from their peers in other schools. If I had my own oil company, I’d gladly hire any one of them!”

Montana Tech SPE recipients for the 2019-2020 school year are John O’Donnell, a senior from Billings, Montana; Yara El Dana, a senior from Calgary, Alberta–Canada; Usman Sajjad; a senior from Calgary, Alberta–Canada; Brody Quast, a senior from Calgary, Alberta–Canada; Tyler Fortier-Glen, a senior from Calgary, Alberta–Canada.
