Round table discussions focused on a campus approach to leveling the playing field for first-generation students
Mentoring opportunities - research shows retention and graduation rates among first-generation students who have a campus mentor are significantly higher than their peers who have not made this connection. Students who can identify with faculty and staff of the same background (first-gen) are more likely to engage with those people and feel less isolated. We desire to encourage faculty and staff who identify as first-generation to take on this opportunity to welcome interaction and connections with first-generation students.
