28TH ANNUAL JOHN ‘JOCKO’ EVANS PETROLEUM SYMPOSIUM AND GOLF TOURNAMENT TAKES PLACE APRIL 13-15
The 28th annual John ‘Jocko’ Evans Petroleum Symposium and Golf Tournament will bring more than 100 petroleum industry professionals and students to the Montana Tech campus on April 13-15.
The core program includes technical talks about all aspects of the oil and gas industry. This year will feature keynotes from Skye Callantine, alumnus and Executive Chairman from Validus Energy, and Sarah Loomis, an executive from Caterpillar. There is also a panel session about the future of oil production in Montana, which will include speakers from Denbury, Kraken and Iron Oil. Technical talks will occur on campus in the Student Union Building on Thursday and Friday.
“Industry members, students and faculty will learn about some interesting aspects of the petroleum and energy industries,” said Dr. Todd Hoffman, head of the Montana Tech Petroleum Engineering Department. “We bring speakers from the broader industry, including landmen, oil and gas experts, geologists, and regulators.”
Attendees for this year’s symposium will come from as far away as Houston, Denver, Pennsylvania, Calgary, California, and Oklahoma.
The symposium will conclude on Saturday, April 15th with a golf tournament at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. The tournament is in a scramble, 4-person format. The Miner’s Ball Auction will also be held that evening.
“This is a great opportunity for students and industry leaders to interact,” Hoffman said.
