The tradition of the “Outdoor Movies at the Original” continues in partnership between Montana Tech Athletics, Montana Tech Foundation, Butte Silver Bow Urban Revitalization Agency and Butte Silver Bow Parks and Recreation.
“Outdoor Movies with the Orediggers” kick off the 2017 summer schedule on Thursday July 20th with the showing of Moana as part of a three-movie schedule. The Secret Life of Pets is slated for August 3rd and the summer ends with an August 30th showing of Little Giants on the eve of the Montana Tech home opener against Carroll College.
Founded by Julia Crain in 2012, the “Outdoor Movies at the Original” has provided free admission to family-friendly shows at the historic mine site throughout the summer.
“Outdoor movies has always been about gathering together to celebrate the best aspects of Butte – the Original, our beautiful summer evenings, and the generosity of our community,” said Julia Crain.
“Montana Tech is a pillar of Butte, and we admire their outstanding commitment to continuing this summer tradition.”
“Montana Tech is excited and honored to carry the torch for a true gem that Julia created,” said Montana Tech Associate Athletic Director Matt Stepan. “We are very proud to work with Julia and Butte Silver Bow to continue to provide this great gift to the community.”
All movies start at dusk and admission is free. For more information, call 496-4105 or go to GoDiggers.com or facebook.com/OutdoorMoviesTheOriginal.
