Montana Tech Continues to See Growth in Enrollment

Montana Tech released fall enrollment numbers today. The university continues to report strong enrollment growth with the largest headcount in history. Overall headcount is up 35 students at 2,980 this fall compared to 2,945 in fall 2014. Numbers also show full-time equivalents (FTE) are up 50 going from 2,574 last year to 2,624 this year. The 2015 class at Montana Tech is from 53 Montana counties, 45 states & territories, and 19 foreign countries.

“We are pleased to see students continue to choose Montana Tech for their education,” noted Montana Tech Chancellor Don Blackketter. “It is great to see the growth in many of our degree programs. It is also important to note we are seeing an increase in our retention rates demonstrating our efforts over the past years have been successful. I would like to thank our faculty and staff for all they do for Montana Tech and our students.”    Montana Tech’s Freshman Engineering Program (FEP), which launched last fall with 249 students, has 300 students this fall. An entry point for every first-year engineering student, the FEP enables incoming students with an interest in engineering to be exposed to a broad range of general disciplines without declaring a specific major in their freshman year.

On the North Campus, petroleum engineering continues to be the largest discipline with 358 students followed by general engineering at 215, nursing at 189, and business 167.

Graduate School numbers also grew by 16 to 210 students. The Materials Science Ph.D. program has 9 doctoral students. The Industrial Hygiene online program is the largest graduate program with 81, 14 additional students are in the Industrial Hygiene program on campus.   At Highlands College, the largest disciplines are the associate of science with 254 students followed by radiologic technology at 50, and accounting technology at 31.

Montana Tech’s Jump Start program also experienced growth going from 275 in fall 2014 to 285 currently.
