Dean of the Lance College of Mines and Engineering

Dr. Lee became the Dean of the Lance College of Mines and Engineering on July 1, 2022. Before Montana Tech, Dr. Lee worked for ten years as a full professor and the Founding Chair of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Western New England University, where he also created the construction management program. He received all his civil engineering degrees (BS, MS, and Ph.D.) from the University of California Irvine and has postdoctoral experience from Princeton University. Dr. Lee is a licensed professional engineer in Montana and Ohio and an ABET program evaluator.

Dr. Lee’s primary research is on subsurface contamination and renewable energy. He has secured funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and numerous other state and private institutions. He is credited with over 100 presentations, proceedings, and journal articles. Dr. Lee has extensive experience building affordable and accessible international programs that offer students of all economic backgrounds cross-cultural learning experiences around the globe.
