The Sherry Lesar School of Nursing at Montana Technological University has been named the #1 nursing program in Montana in RegisteredNursing.org's 2027 Best RN Programs rankings.

“This is a tremendous honor and reflects the collective commitment to excellence shared by our faculty, staff, and students,” Director of Nursing Janet Coe, MSN, RN, CHSE said. “Their dedication, hard work, and pride in the Sherry Lesar School of Nursing are what continue to distinguish our program.”

The recognition highlights Montana Tech's continued success in preparing nursing graduates for professional licensure and careers in health care.

RegisteredNursing.org evaluates nursing programs using first-time pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), the national licensing examination required for registered nurses. The rankings consider multiple years of examination results, with greater weight placed on more recent performance.

Montana Tech's nursing students have demonstrated exceptional success on the examination, with RegisteredNursing.org giving the campus a 98.6% weighted average pass rate over the past three years, the highest of all colleges that are ranked in Montana.

The ranking adds to a growing list of national recognitions for the Sherry Lesar School of Nursing. Earlier this year, Niche ranked Montana Tech's nursing program #1 in Montana for a second consecutive year.

Montana Tech's nursing program combines classroom instruction, hands-on clinical experiences and advanced simulation technology to prepare students for the challenges of modern health care. A cornerstone of that education is the Lesar Family Nursing Simulation Center, which opened in May 2022. The approximately 5,000-square-foot facility features four simulation suites that can be configured to replicate hospital, home and clinical settings, along with debriefing rooms, telehealth rooms, a nurse's station and a medication room. The center provides students with opportunities to practice clinical skills, strengthen decision-making abilities and respond to realistic patient care scenarios in a controlled learning environment.

Montana Tech has also expanded opportunities for future nurses through its Nursing Scholars Edge Direct Entry program, which offers eligible Montana high school seniors a direct pathway into the university's nursing clinical program
