Sherry Lesar School of Nursing ranked #1 in Montana by Niche
For the second consecutive year, Montana Technological University’s Sherry Lesar School of Nursing has been named the top nursing school in Montana in Niche.com’s 2027 Best Colleges for Nursing in America rankings.
The Sherry Lesar School of Nursing ranks 178 among 796 colleges nationwide. Montana State University, ranked 203, is the only other Montana nursing school to place in the top half of the national rankings.
“It is an honor to receive this ranking for the second consecutive year,” Director of Nursing Janet Coe, MSN, RN, CHSE said. “This recognition reflects the collaborative dedication of our faculty, staff, and campus partners to providing high-quality, student-centered nursing education.”
Niche’s Best Colleges for Nursing rankings consider a combination of academic quality, student experiences and other factors. The rankings incorporate data from the U.S. Department of Education along with reviews from students and alumni, providing insight into academics, campus life and the overall student experience.
The recognition comes as Montana Tech continues to expand opportunities for students interested in pursuing a nursing career.
Montana high school seniors with a 3.5 grade point average or higher can apply for the Nursing Scholars Edge Direct Entry Program, which provides 25 qualified students each year with a direct pathway into the Sherry Lesar School of Nursing’s clinical program. Students selected for Nursing Direct Entry secure their clinical placement earlier than students following the traditional entry pathway and are also considered for a $500 scholarship.
The application deadline for the Nursing Scholars Edge Direct Entry is Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. More information about the program is available here.
Prospective students can also learn more about Montana Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program through campus visits. The Sherry Lesar School of Nursing, in conjunction with the Montana Tech Admissions Office, offers tours of its facilities, opportunities to meet with faculty members and transcript evaluations. Students can schedule an in-person or virtual visit through the Montana Tech Admissions Office.
