Required Forms for On Campus Research ✓

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training is required before any research is done on campus.

This training must be current and must be completed every 3 years to maintain GTA/GRA eligibility for the following semester.

Responsible Conduct of Research Training Instructions:

For Responsible Conduct of Research Training the University relies on CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) Website.

  1. Register here. where you will be taken to the City Program, CITI Learner Registration Page.
  2. Under “Select Your Organization Affiliation” enter University of Montana and select it. Select University of Montana, and NOT University of Montana (SSO).
  3. Select “Agree to the Terms of Service…” and Select “I affirm that I am an affiliate of University of Montana.
  4. Select “Continue to Create Your CITI Program Username/Password.”
  5. Follow the 7 steps to register for an account and be sure to use your Montana Tech Student email as your contact email.
  6. Step 7 is Select Curriculum with CITI Course Enrollment Procedures.  Near the bottom is the heading CITI Course Enrollment Questions.
  7. You only need to complete Question 7, the RCR Curriculum and select  Yes for Question 11. You may say, “Not at this Time” or “I am not required to complete this course” for all questions but Q7 and Q11.
  8. Select Complete Registration you will be taken to your CITI Learner Registration.
  9. Select Finalize Registration.
  10.  On your Institution Course page Select View Courses.
  11. Under Active Courses, you can start your required “Responsible Conduct of Research” course.
  12. When completed, you will be offered a certificate of completion, print/save it to a PDF.
  13. Once completed, please upload your RCR Certificate of Completion below.

  • IH Program Form (pre-required - due second semester of graduate school), please contact your advisor for this form.
