Montana Technological University ranked on Forbes 2027 America's Top Colleges List 

Montana Technological University has been named to Forbes’ America’s Top Colleges list for a second consecutive year. The rankings denote the top 500 private and public schools in the nation.

The ranking highlights Montana Tech’s strong return on investment, including high graduate earnings and comparatively low student debt.

According to Forbes’ methodology, Montana Tech graduates earn a median salary of $120,559 after 20 years in the workforce. Students graduate with an average debt of $6,464 — lower than several peer institutions appearing on the Top Colleges list, including Carroll College ($8,939), Montana State University ($9,970), Colorado School of Mines ($10,414) and South Dakota School of Mines ($7,879).

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology earned the top spot on this year’s list.

This marks the fourth time Montana Tech has been recognized in Forbes’ college rankings. The University was named one of America’s Best Value Colleges in 2019, a Top College in 2022, and has now appeared on the America’s Top Colleges list for two consecutive years.

Montana Tech continues to expand opportunities that make an Oredigger education more accessible and affordable.

The Ryan and Lisa Lance Scholars Program, launched in 2023, provides financial assistance and mentorship to Montana students throughout their academic journey.
