The Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology is excited to announce a special exhibit featuring selected samples from our Anaconda Research Collection! This collection was recently designated as a Geological Heritage Collection by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), marking it as of particularly high scientific, historic, or educational relevance internationally—one of only 11 in the world.
We're hosting a special reception in September showcasing these specimens alongside work by MBMG economic geologist Kyle Eastman. This is your chance to see firsthand the rocks and minerals that represent Montana's irreplaceable mining heritage.
Reception: September 18th, 5- 7 p.m., at the Mineral Museum at Montana Tech Extended viewing: Through November 1, 2026.
Light refreshments will be served and all are welcome. We invite you to explore this globally significant collection.
