
The search committee for the dean of the College of Letters, Sciences & Professional Studies at Montana Technological University has announced three candidates will be interviewing on campus over the next couple weeks.
The finalists, who were selected through a national search, will interview and deliver an open forum presentation.
The candidates, listed by open forum date, are:
April 27 — Dr. Lok Lew Yan Voon, dean of the College of Sciences at the University of Findlay
April 28 — Dr. Matthew Muterspaugh, dean of the Brentwood Center and Distance Education at Los Medanos College in California
May 7 — Dr. Jeffrey Meriwether, dean of the Feinstein School of Humanities, Arts, and Education at Roger Williams University

Interview: April 27, 2026

Dr. Lok Lew Yan Voon is currently the dean of the College of Sciences at the University of Findlay and has a total of nine years of experience at the dean level over his academic career. His background also includes a strong record of collective bargaining experience, community engagement, and fundraising and external relationships. Additionally, he has authored over 110 peer-reviewed papers to date and received a number of research awards including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award.
Dr. Lok Lew Yan Voon has earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Cambridge in England, a master’s degree in physics from the University of British Columbia, and a Ph.D. in physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. Matthew Muterspaugh is the dean of the Brentwood Center and Distance Education at Los Medanos College in California and previously served as dean at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee.
Dr. Muterspaugh has led academic portfolios spanning the sciences, mathematics, business, and workforce programs. He has successfully created industry-parted curricula with employers including General Motors, Ultium Batteries, and Amazon. Additionally, he has experience in program and regional accreditation and has successfully secured over $4 million in competitive funding.
Dr. Muterspaugh has earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics from Indiana University, a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Tennessee State University.

Dr. Jeffrey Meriwether is currently the dean of the Feinstein School of Humanities, Arts, and Education at Roger Williams University where he oversees seven departments. He has been at Roger Williams University since 2001 where he taught history before entering the administrative ranks as an assistant dean for operations in 2016.
Dr. Meriwether is a skillful communicator with an administrative career that includes labor negotiation, strategic planning work, accreditation, and interdisciplinary program development. Dr. Meriwether is committed to student success and possesses a record of securing external funding.
Dr. Meriwether holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Western Washington University and a history Ph.D. from the University of Exeter, specializing in British military studies.
