Montana Tech Campus Life is inviting students, faculty, and staff to refresh their wardrobes while supporting sustainability and community connection at an upcoming Montana Tech Outfit Exchange.
The event will take place Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Copper Lounge (SUB 204) and is sponsored by Campus Life.
The outfit exchange is a clothing swap focused entirely on Montana Tech gear, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, and other campus apparel. Participants are encouraged to bring clean, gently used Tech clothing they no longer wear and exchange it for something new-to-them.
“It’s like a clothing swap, but it’s all Tech gear,” Director of Campus Life Madeline Thomas said. “If you have Montana Tech items that are dated or just not your style anymore, this is a great way to pass them on to someone else.”
The event is open to students, faculty, and staff, and snacks will be provided. Clothing does not need to be perfect, Thomas said, but should be clean and free of stains.
“It doesn’t have to be perfect,” she said. “Even if it’s wrinkly, that’s okay. The goal is to give Tech gear a second life and make sure it gets used.”
Thomas said the Outfit Exchange is also intended to help ensure that students who may need Montana Tech apparel—whether for warmth, school spirit, or affordability—have access to it.
Campus Life works closely to help connect individuals with resources, and Thomas emphasized that anyone in need is encouraged to reach out to her at mthomas3@mtech.edu or Program Manager of Outreach and Belonging Cheyenne Crooker at ccrooker1@mtech.edu.
