Campus Life hosts Copper Cart Grocery Bingo to support student wellness

Prize basket with various food and laundry items

Montana Technological University’s Campus Life is kicking off the spring semester with an event designed to support student wellness while bringing the campus community together.

Copper Cart Grocery Bingo will take place Friday, January 23, 2026 at 3 p.m. in the Copper Lounge (SUB 204). The event gives students the chance to win one of many high-quality grocery baskets.

Prizes will include a variety of baskets filled with snacks, breakfast items, and grocery items, such as laundry supplies.

“We wanted to provide things that students truly need and shouldn’t have to worry about,” Director of Campus Life Madeline Thomas said. “Students are having trouble accessing and affording essential items, and with student success as a priority, we want to try to provide healthy and helpful options for them.”

The event is hosted in collaboration with Healthy Colleges of Montana, a statewide initiative that promotes student health and well-being. Beyond groceries, Thomas said that Copper Cart Grocery Bingo also offers an opportunity for students to connect with one another at the start of the new year.

“It’s a good opportunity for fellowship among students, especially since the new year has just started,” she said.

Students who don’t win a basket are still encouraged to take advantage of Montana Tech’s Food Pantry, located in SUB 106, which is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pantry offers mostly nonperishable items, along with occasional fresh food donations and frozen meals.

Students in need of additional support are encouraged to reach out to Madeline Thomas at mthomas3@mtech.edu or stop by her office SUB 202 or Program Manager of Outreach and Belonging Cheyenne Crooker at ccrooker1@mtech.edu.

Community members who wish to donate food items can bring them to the Student Union Building Information Desk and indicate that they are for the Food Pantry.
