Nursing students hold hygiene drive to benefit Safe Space

Four SNA members with Hygiene products

The Sherry Lesar School of Nursing and Student Nurses Association (SNA) are holding a community-wide hygiene drive to collect essential personal care items for individuals and families in need.

Items will be donated to Safe Space, a domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and awareness program in Butte that assists victims and survivors.

“Chloe Nelson, the president of SNA, had this fantastic idea,” Assistant Professor of Nursing Kristin Cullen said. “As nurses and nursing students, we thrive from supporting vulnerable populations.  SNA feels that empowering women and children who have suffered from domestic abuse deserve support and encouragement to establish the best life possible”

Community members are encouraged to donate new, unopened items such as:

  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste (for kids and adults)
  • Dental floss
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Diapers and wipes
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Bar soap
  • Baby care items (soap, diaper cream, lotion, etc.)
  • Combs and brushes
  • Deodorant
  • Sunscreen
  • Kleenex and other paper products
  • Laundry detergent
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Lip balm

Donations can be dropped off the drop box in the Nursing Department Office in the Health Sciences Building until Nov. 10.

“We are excited to facilitate a campus wide drive to support people in our community,” Cullen said.
