Montana Technological University to kick off 125th anniversary

Montana Technological University will kick off its yearlong 125th anniversary celebration with Butte-Silver Bow on September 10 with a proclamation and kick-off at 10 a.m. on the county courthouse steps.

Founded in 1900 as the Montana State School of Mines, Montana Tech has grown and transformed, evolving into the state’s STEM university. From its early days preparing engineers for Montana’s mining industry and building the nation’s early electrical grid to today’s wide variety of standout programs in engineering, health, science, technology, and the trades, the University has remained dedicated to innovation and opportunity.

Throughout the anniversary year, Montana Tech will host events and activities to commemorate its past, honor its present, and imagine its future. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to take part in the celebration, which will highlight the university’s enduring impact on Butte, Montana, and beyond.
