Montana Tech announces 2025 Homecoming events

Montana Technological University is pleased to announce Homecoming events for 2025. The Orediggers will face Dakota State for the football game on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

The Mining Engineering Department will celebrate its 125th anniversary with an evening alumni banquet on September 25, followed by a Mining Symposium, and a mini mining competition on September 26. The weekend concludes with a football tailgate on September 27.

The week also includes events centered around the University’s 50th anniversary of the Department of Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene. Montana Tech’s three-day celebration kicks off October 2 with workshops led by alumni and industry leaders, followed by a gala dinner honoring the program’s founders, faculty, and alumni. The festivities continue with socials, student activities, bed races, lab tours, and conclude October 4 with a homecoming tailgate and football game.

The Montana Tech Alumni Foundation will bestow the Chancellor’s Award upon two recipients and recognize three Distinguished Alumni in a dinner at the Butte Country Club on Friday, October 3 at 6 p.m.

Homecoming events will include:

  • Monday, September 29: Black Dog Ice Cream in the Courtyard from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
  • Tuesday, September 30: Swing Dance Club from 8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Upstairs at the Scandia
  • Wednesday, November 1 - Free Succulents in the courtyard from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Thursday - Painting Mug and tote bags from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Big Butte/Highlands
  • Friday - Bed races at 12 p.m. Registration takes place at 11 a.m.
