Mining Team brings home several trophies from the 47th International Collegiate Mining Competition

Montana Technological University’s Mining Team brought home several trophies from the 47th International Collegiate Mining Competition held at the University of Exeter’s Camborne School of Mines and the King Edward Mine Museum in Camborne, England on March 19-22, 2025.

Montana Tech fielded five teams, comprised of 15 men and 15 women competitors. Every team placed in the top three in at least one event. The Orphan Girls Team took home second place overall out of 10 teams. Final standings are as follows:

Women’s Division:

Orphan Girls Team

• 1^st place in Jackleg Drilling, Track Stand, and Hand Steel
• 2^nd Overall and in Surveying
• 3^rd in Mucking

Butte Bells Team  

• 3^rd in Hand Steel
• 4^th in Track Stand

Coed Division:

Picked Last Co-Ed Team

• 1^st in Hand Steel
• 4^th in Gold Panning

Men’s Division:

The Originals Team

• 1^st in Hand Steel
• 2^nd in Track Stand
• 2^nd in Surveying

Barnard Boys Team

• 2nd in Jackleg Drilling
