Montana Tech announces Fall 2024 Commencement activities

Montana Tech’s Fall 2024 commencement ceremony will occur on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in the HPER. The university will award  207 degrees and certificates to 198 students.

Montana Tech alumna and Butte orthodontist Dr. Jonna Laslovich, will be the commencement speaker. Laslovich was born and raised in Butte and graduated from Montana Tech in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2013 and completed a dental specialty residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2015. Shortly thereafter, Jonna opened Laslovich Orthodontics in Butte and Anaconda, where she provides orthodontic treatment for adolescents, teens and adults. Jonna is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, the president of the Montana State Orthodontic Society, and serves as a Board Member for the Montana Tech Foundation and the Butte Education Foundation. Jonna and her husband, Anthony, have three children and enjoy spending time at Georgetown Lake and cheering on the Diggers. 

Krista Allen will be the student speaker. Allen was born and raised in Butte, America where she currently lives with her husband and three kids. Her favorite part about living in this beautiful city is its rich history and close proximity to nature. A 2015 graduate of Montana Tech with an electrical engineering degree, Krista is adding to her academic achievements with a second bachelor's degree in nursing, which she will receive during commencement.

Events leading up to commencement are as follows:

The Line Rodeo will take place on Friday, December 13 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the pole yard at Highlands College.

The Order of the Engineer will be held on Friday, December 13 at 5:00 pm in the Library Auditorium. The ceremony will see 30 participants this semester.

The Sherry Lesar School of Nursing will hold its Nursing Pinning Ceremony in the Library Auditorium on Saturday morning, December 14 at 9:00 am. The ceremony symbolizes welcoming newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. At the ceremony, 12 Bachelor of Science (BSN) students will be presented with nursing pins by Montana Tech Nursing Department faculty.
