The Associated Students of Montana Tech (ASMT) and Sodexo, the campus dining vendor, have partnered together to offer a Friendsgiving Dinner on Wednesday, November 27, in the Marcus Daly Dining Hall at 5p.m.
Sodexo will be providing the feast, with pies provided by ASMT. The event is free to all Montana Tech students, faculty, and staff. This event is in addition to the separate annual Thanksgiving dinner, which will be held for all students on November 25. The goal of the event is to provide a welcoming home away from home for anyone who is unable to travel or be with family over the Thanksgiving holiday. This is the first time this event has been held on campus.
“This is a very important holiday for us, as we at Dining Services have so much to be thankful for because of our Montana Tech family,” said Sodexo General Manager Tim McLaughlin. “We are creating Friendsgiving as an annual event to give back to the students, staff, and faculty that make Montana Tech such a wonderful place, and to let them know that when you are on campus you are home.”
The Friendsgiving menu will include turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, yams, green bean casserole, stuffing, tossed garden salad, and desserts. All leftovers will be packaged and given to attendees, so that they may continue to enjoy the warmth of the holiday feast throughout the Thanksgiving break.
“Come celebrate Friendsgiving with your Montana Tech family,” Director of Campus Life Madeline Thomas said. “This Friendsgiving wouldn't be possible without Sodexo and ASMT's support. I am forever grateful for my Montana Tech family. Friendsgiving is a time for fellowship and to support each other during the holiday season. I encourage all students, faculty, and staff in Butte during fall break to join us at the Marcus Daly Dining Hall for a wonderful Friendsgiving. After all, you can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends. And we chose you!"
