Professor Jack Skinner Selected to Chair Premier Nanotechnology Conference
Department Head of Mechanical Engineering and Founding Director of the Montana Tech Nanotechnology Laboratory (MTNL) Dr. Jack Skinner has been chosen by a group of top scientists, engineers, faculty, and industry leaders to serve a five-year term on the ten-person Steering Committee for the International Conference of Electron, Ion and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication (EIPBN or 3-Beams). The EIPBN is the premier meeting for scientists and engineers dedicated to nanoscale fabrication and characterization and related technologies and applications across the broad technical community. Dr. Skinner’s career in nanotechnology spans over 20 years where he has amassed over 60 publications, 100 presentations, 11 granted patents, a best journal article award, cover features, and national media recognition.
Dr. Skinner will serve as the EIPBN Conference Chair and Chief Executive Officer for the non-profit organization in 2026. “I am honored and humbled to be chosen as the Conference Chair for the 69th EIPBN and to join the EIPBN Steering Committee. I am excited to work with EIPBN leadership and the 3-Beams community going forward to foster meaningful interactions between established experts in our field and the next generation of leaders. I have attended and presented at 3-Beams for 20 years. Since coming to Montana Tech, my group has presented impactful research and won numerous awards at 3-Beams. We have exceptional facilities and expertise at Montana Tech, and I attribute my selection as conference chair in large part to my team’s efforts and accomplishments over the years,” says Dr. Skinner.
As a Steering Committee member, Dr. Skinner will be dedicated to planning and execution of successful 3-Beams conferences for the next five years. Afterward, Dr. Skinner will become a permanent member of the EIPBN Advisory Committee.
