The Sherry Lesar School of Nursing Mental Health students will be working with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to promote their Talk Away the Dark Campaign. On Monday, September 11, in the Student Union Building, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, the students will have three informational booths regarding suicide prevention and mental health concerns. The goal of this clinical is to share suicide prevention resources and information with their peers.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, “Talking is the first step to preventing suicide. We might worry that saying the wrong thing will make it worse. So, we end up not saying anything – even though a few kind words can make the difference in connecting someone to help or supporting someone who experienced a suicide loss. It’s time we shed light on the leading cause of death. It’s time we talk away the dark.”
