Montana Technological University has been named the No. 1 best value college for engineering in Montana by CollegeFactual.com. The ranking was based on factors such as tuition and academic excellence.
For their 2021 rankings, College Factual used data from the U.S Department of Education to compare Montana Tech and MSU as they are the only colleges in the state that offer bachelor’s degrees in engineering. Their focus was to rank the schools based on their “high-quality education at a price lower than other schools of similar academic excellence.” To determine value, they added tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies, and other expenses into account and then subtracted the average financial aid award to determine the average out-of-pocket cost for a graduate. They estimated Tech graduates would spend approximately $27,468 per year.
College Factual placed Montana Tech in the top 10 percent of colleges in the country for engineering, ranking Tech No. 29 in the nation out of 323 schools.
