Montana Tech Business Department Secures Accreditation

Montana Tech’s Department of Business & Information Technology (BIT Department) has been granted first-time accreditation by the Board of Commissioners of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).
“Accreditation is a great achievement,” said Dr. Tim Kober, Chair of the Business & Information Department. “This is significant evidence of the strength and commitment of our faculty. I am proud of them and of the job we do for our students, for the university and for Butte.”

As part of the accreditation process, the BIT Department underwent a rigorous self-evaluation and a comprehensive, independent peer review demonstrating compliance with the IACBE Accreditation Principles. The IACBE noted that the BIT Department “has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, excellence in business education, and advancing academic quality in its business programs and operations.”

The IACBE is nationally-recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and is the leader in mission-driven and outcomes-based programmatic accreditation in business and management education for student-centered colleges and universities.

The Dean of the College of Letters, Sciences and Professional Studies, Dr. Steve Gammon, noted, “One of the significant proofs of the quality of a university department is accreditation. I applaud the BIT Department for a job well done.”
