Kinder Morgan Inc., one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, donated $10,000 to the Alex Thatcher Memorial Scholarship Fund at Montana Tech. The scholarship fund is in honor of Montana Tech petroleum engineering alumnus who passed away in a tragic accident in May of 2017.
Alex graduated from Butte High School and then went on to attend Montana Tech where she graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering in 2015. After graduation, she moved to North Dakota to work for Kinder Morgan.
“We are pleased to contribute to the Alex Thatcher Memorial Scholarship at Montana Tech,” said Kinder Morgan Midstream President Duane Kokinda. “Alex was a respected and important part of our team in Williston, ND. Her passing was a tragic loss for all who knew her. We wish her memory continues to live on through future Montana Tech students whom this scholarship will support,” he added.
“Our family is greatly appreciative of the entire Kinder Morgan company and their generous donation to Alex’s scholarship fund at Montana Tech,” explained The Thatcher Family. “Alex truly loved her time at Kinder Morgan, as she met some wonderful people, and was living out her dream of being a petroleum engineer. We cannot thank Kinder Morgan enough, as the people became an extremely important part of Alex’s life—becoming her family away from home. Thank you Kinder Morgan for your support which has surpassed what we could have ever imagined.”
