Butte American Legion to Hold Alumni Game and Digger Day

On Friday, June 9, the Butte Miners will wear Digger green for the Montana Tech Orediggers to celebrate Digger Day at 3Legends Stadium. The game will be an alumni game with all proceeds going towards a Butte American Legion scholarship at Montana Tech. This will be the second time Montana Tech and American Legion will team up for a game. At the game Jeff LeProwse, head coach of the Miners, will announce the Legion player who will receive a $500 scholarship to Montana Tech. All former American Legion baseball players and Digger graduates are invited to come out and compete against Buttes Miners and Muckers.

“Montana Tech is excited to continue to partner with American Legion baseball to give the young men of Butte an opportunity to get on an extraordinary path and live out their educational dreams,” said Joe McClafferty, president of the Montana Tech Foundation.

“Butte American Legion baseball is honored to have Montana Tech sponsor our 2017 alumni game at our new 3Legends Stadium at Miners field,” noted Coach Jeff LeProwse. “Many of our alumni, current coaches and board members have attended and graduated from Montana Tech. The goal of our program is to build a foundation for our student-athletes to become successful after high school and by partnering with a great institution like Montana Tech helps make that a reality. Each year our organization looks forward to hosting former players to compete against our hometown teams and with the new stadium in 2017 we hope that alumni will come out to the new ballpark to enjoy a game or compete against our Miners and Muckers.”

Game time is 7:00 pm at 3Legends Stadium on Miners Field against Butte American Legion alumni and Montana Tech graduates. Montana Tech’s Charlie Oredigger will throw out the first pitch.
