Montana Tech Lands on U.S. News List of Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs
U.S. News and World Report ranked Montana Tech on its list of 2016 Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs. Montana Tech tied for the No. 49 spot overall. For the 2016 Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs rankings, U.S. News ranked schools using five categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, peer reputation, and admissions selectivity.
"We are pleased to receive this important recognition of our online graduate degree programs by U.S. News," stated Montana Tech Chancellor Don Blackketter. "Our online graduate programs are strong and continue to allow professionals to obtain their educational needs wherever they are."
Montana Tech's Dean of the Graduate School Bev Hartline added, "We believe delivering graduate education online is important for our alumni and other working professionals. Our distance graduate programs provide great opportunities for those seeking deeper expertise and advancement in project management, health care informatics, or industrial hygiene."
Montana Tech offers two online graduate engineering programs: Industrial Hygiene Professional Track and Project Engineering & Management (MPEM). The ABET-accredited master's program in Industrial Hygiene Professional Track enables working professionals to earn their graduate degrees without leaving their jobs. The web-based non-thesis curriculum includes not only the traditional IH rubrics but also a safety core and completion of a research-based IH report. One on-campus component is required-the laboratory section of the Sampling and Evaluation of Health Hazards course. The Project Engineering Management master's degree is a web-based non-thesis curriculum that helps working engineers advance into management. The 30-credit program covers three areas: advanced engineering applications, industrial and management engineering, and business and organizational management. Each course meets weekly in a virtual classroom for lectures, questions, and discussion.
