Montana Tech Health Care Informatics (HCI) student Nicole Rudolph received the 2015 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Undergraduate Scholarship, one of three scholarships awarded in 2015 by the HIMSS Foundation. The HIMSS Foundation scholarship recipients were approved by the HIMSS North America Board of Directors.
The HIMSS Foundation awards its scholarships to student(s) deemed most deserving as determined by the HIMSS Foundation Scholarship Review Board. All recipients of a HIMSS Foundation scholarship or HIMSS award must be a member or student member in good standing of HIMSS. The scholarships are part of the HIMSS Awards Program, which recognizes lifetime achievement, scholarship programs, activities or publications with honors going to individuals, groups, and organizations for significant contributions to the Society, their organizations or to the health IT profession.
“The HCI faculty at Montana Tech congratulates Nicole on this outstanding achievement,” noted faculty members Charie Faught and Rita Spear. “This scholarship is recognition of her work ethic, initiative, skills, and intelligence. We feel confident that Nicole will be an exceptional health information technology professional and make significant contributions to the field.”
Nicole Rudolph is pursuing a B.S. in Health Care Informatics (HCI) with a minor in Computer Science at Montana Tech in Butte, Montana. She is on both the Dean’s and Chancellor’s Honor Roll List and has an overall GPA of 3.97. Nicole serves as a teacher’s assistant and encourages fellow HCI students to become active in HIMSS and the Montana Chapter. Nicole attended HIMSS15 in Chicago, Illinois where she volunteered as a Program Assistant, attended educational sessions, and was in the audience for keynote speaker, former President George W. Bush. She also completed a 500 hour program-required internship at the local Community Health Center (CHC) where she shadowed clinicians and documented workflows. In addition to being a full-time honors student, Nicole works as a server and referees elementary school volleyball. She plans on furthering her education by pursuing a master's degree in business administration and/or healthcare administration.
HIMSS will honor all 2015 scholarship winners at the HIMSS16 Awards Gala on Thursday, March 3, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Latour Ballroom in the Wynn Hotel. Tickets and tables are now available for this black-tie-optional event.
