For the 6th year, Montana Tech celebrates National Student Employment week. On Monday, April 13th, Career Services hosted a Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) recognition ceremony. The event honored Montana Tech students nominated by their on-campus employers for the distinguished award. This year’s nominees were Blake Ereaux, Justin Gomez, Quincy Riordan, Kaitlyn Rudy, Kassady Sheble, Asel Sherimkulova, Nikki West, and Jason Wilhelm.
The 2015 Montana Tech Student Employee of the Year award nominations were critiqued based upon each nominee’s the accomplishments in the areas of Reliability, Initiative, Uniqueness of Contribution, Quality of Work, Professionalism and Community and Campus Service. The winner of the Montana Tech SEOTY award also competed among other Montana institution winners for the State SEOTY award.
The selection committee chose Kaitlyn Rudy for the 2015 campus award. She was nominated by the Montana Tech Director of Student Success, Dr. Carrie Vath and received a personalized medallion trophy, Montana Tech Bookstore gift certificate and an award certificate signed by Chancellor Donald M. Blackketter and Associate Vice Chancellor Paul Beatty. Her name is displayed as the 2015 recipient on the Student Employee of the Year perpetual plaque in the Career Services office.
In addition to many examples of Kaitlyn’s outstanding work, Dr. Vath stated in the nomination materials that, “Kaitlyn balances a full academic load, working at ACE and also working as a supplemental instructor through the math department. Kaitlyn consistently receives positive evaluations at the end of every semester. Not only do I think she is a wonderful math tutor and academic coach, the students she helps agree.”
Montana Tech will also celebrate National Student Employment Week with daily drawings all week and an ice cream & cake social for all student employees on Wednesday, April 15th in the Student Union Building.
