Last week, Superintendent Denise Juneau and Kelly Cresswell, vice president of Foundation Activities at Student Assistance Foundation (SAF), announced Montana Tech’s Institute for Educational Opportunities will be awarded a $3,000 grant to serve students and families at Butte High School.
The Institute will use the funds to host events for Butte High School seniors and their parents during Montana College Application Week which is November 3-7, 2014. They will also host Financial Aide sessions and College Goal Montana events in January and February. The funds will be used in part, to host training sessions for volunteers who will assist Butte High School seniors and parents in completing the FAFSA.
“I am honored and elated to have written a successful grant to serve the awesome kids of Butte High School,” noted Theresa Rader, TRIO Coordinator with Montana Tech’s Institute for Educational Opportunities. “This is an excellent example of the community outreach that happens daily through the Institute for Educational Opportunities. We are committed to providing students with the tools and support needed to achieve their dreams of going to college.”
"This strategic investment of funding is expected to bring in millions of dollars in federal grant funding for Montana students and families for college,” said Superintendent Juneau. “It is exciting to see Graduation Matters communities, like Butte, to be setting high goals to reach out to and engage students and families as they prepare for life after high school."
