The Montana Tech Hockey Club opened the 2014/2015 inaugural season last weekend against the high-ranking Utah State Aggies. The Tech Diggers went on to win both Friday night and Saturday afternoon after two strong efforts from all of the players and goaltender James Adamo.
On Friday, with the help of an amazing crowd comprised mainly of Tech students, the Diggers were able to hold off a late push by the Aggies to grab the victory with a score of 4-2.
The Diggers faced off against Utah State again on Saturday afternoon. The Aggie’s came out hard and had the Diggers down by a score of 3-2 heading into the third period. However, due to a strong third period effort, the Diggers were able to battle back and get the come-from-behind victory at score of 4-3.
The Montana Tech Diggers attribute their season opening victories to the incredible efforts on the penalty kill, stellar goaltending, and an incredible fan base.
The Diggers attempt to continue their perfect season this upcoming weekend in Boise, Idaho, where they will face Boise State University, Western Washington University, and San Jose State University.
