Montana GEMS has been awarded a grant of $2,000 by the Women’s Foundation of Montana. Montana GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) is an after-school STEM program for girls in fifth through eighth grade in Butte. The participating girls will conduct hands-on STEM activities and develop science fair projects.
According to Ronda Coguill, Montana GEMS Director and Materials Testing Lab Manager at Montana Tech, “The experience will culminate in a multi-day summer camp experience featuring guest scientists and technologists. We are very excited to work with young women to encourage their interests in Math, Science and Technology.” Montana GEMS will take place in partnership with Montana Tech's Create Math: Mathematics and Music Summer Experience.
Montana GEMS has also received funding for the program from the STEM Collaborative Project. For more information, please contact Ronda Coguill at 496-4808.
