Halliburton has granted the Montana Tech Geophysical Engineering Department the use of its software for a three-year period. The software is valued at ~$21 million. The software package is made available to Montana Tech for the sole purpose of education and research on the Montana Tech campus. The package is comprised of software for processing and interpretation of two- and three-dimensional digital seismic data and associated petrophysical and well log information.
“This grant allows students in the Geophysical Engineering Department to gain experience with state-of-the-art software they use when they enter industry,” said Dr. Marvin Speece, Geophysical Engineering Department Head. “In addition, the software improves the Department’s ability to work with increasingly large and complex data sets.”
