Montana Tech will celebrate its 114th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Butte Civic Center. At this year’s ceremony, Montana Tech will graduate 555 students.
Commencement week activities begin on Thursday, May 15, 2014, with the Montana Tech Alumni Reunion Banquet. Montana Tech will honor the members of the classes of 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, and 1989 at the banquet and at the Commencement Ceremony. In attendance will be two graduates from 1954, one from 1959, nine from 1964, four from 1969, four from 1974, three from 1979, four from 1984, and two from 1989. The Alumni Reunion Banquet begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Treasure State Room at the Hotel Finlen.
On Friday, May 16, Montana Tech graduates will go through a rehearsal ceremony in preparation for the ceremony on Saturday. The rehearsal will take place in the HPER complex at 3:00 p.m.
On Friday evening, approximately 250 alumni and friends of Montana Tech will gather at the Star Lanes Event Center for the annual Alumni Association Banquet. This event, held in honor of the graduating class of 2014, begins at 6:00 p.m. with no-host cocktails followed by the banquet at 7:00 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $30.00 per person and reservations are available by calling 496-4402. This event is sponsored by the Montana Tech Alumni Association.
Saturday morning will kick-off with the Nursing Pinning Ceremony in the Library Auditorium at 8:30 a.m. The Montana Tech Nursing Pinning Ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. At the ceremony, 18 Associate of Science (ASN) students and 25 Bachelor of Science (BSN) students will be presented with nursing pins by Montana Tech Nursing Department faculty. Michelle Hodges, BSN student, and Jason Walsh, ASN student, will speak to those in attendance.
The Order of the Engineering Ring Ceremony will also take place on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Butte Civic Center. The ceremony will see approximately 65 Montana Tech engineering students, faculty and staff participate.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. on May 17, 2014, degree candidates will begin assembling in the halls of the Butte Civic Center in preparation for the Commencement Ceremony, slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. A Gala Reception for graduates, family members, and friends will occur immediately following the Commencement Ceremony (approximately 1:15 pm) in annex of the Butte Civic Center.
