Montana Tech will be hosting three educational camps during the 2014 summer: the MINES Summer Camp for Young Women, the Create Math Summer Program and a Montana Tech Mining Department summer mining camp.
The MINES – Summer Camp for Young Women is an exciting, new collaborative effort between BP and Montana Tech meant to expose young women entering their sophomore and junior years in high school to the many exciting career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. The camp will be held July 27 through August 2. Applications are due on May 2, 2014. Complete information is available on the MINES website.
The Create Math Summer Program is presented by the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montana Tech and sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America–Tensor Foundation. This year’s theme is Mathematics & Music. The goal of the camp is to heighten enthusiasm for mathematics among young women. The camp is limited to the first 25 applicants. No previous experience with music is required. Applications are due on May 30, 2014.
Also this summer, the Montana Tech Mining Department will host a summer mining camp on campus July 7 through 11. The camp will teach participants the benefit of the mining industry, environmental stewardship, and sustainability.
