Solvay USA Inc., formerly Rhodia Inc., has awarded their annual The Solvay USA Inc. Engineering for Environmental Protection Scholarship to Jacob John Eisenbarth and Brant Mac Ahlborn. Jacob, a senior at Butte High School, and Brandt, a senior at Butte Central High School, will attend Montana Tech in the fall.
In 2001, Rhodia Inc. began awarding the scholarship to future Montana Tech students who share their commitment to the environment and who are pursuing a degree in engineering. Each year, at least one $2,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted into an engineering degree program at Montana Tech. First priority goes to Environmental Engineering full-time degree-seeking students. To apply, students are asked to complete an application form and provide an essay about "What role should engineers play in protecting and improving the environment?"
“We’re proud to support education and the young people of Butte,” noted Dan Bersanti, Solvay’s plant manager. “This scholarship program enables us to do both, while working with an outstanding institution like Montana Tech. We are thrilled to award the scholarship this year to two very deserving students, Jacob Eisenbarth and Brant Ahlborn, who will excel at Montana Tech”.
Students with an interest in learning more about this scholarship opportunity should contact their school counselor or write to the following address to request more information on eligibility requirements and an application form:
