For the 5th year, Montana Tech celebrates National Student Employment week. On Monday, April 14th, Career Services hosted a Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) recognition ceremony. The event honored Montana Tech students nominated by their on-campus employers for the distinguished award. This year’s nominees were Eric Carlson, Dylan Dahl, Kori Dyer, Jeff Hall, Trevor Ivory, Jake Johnson, Steve Keckler, Stewart Neal, Steve Piippo, John Sanford, Caitlin Shipp, Julia Spears, Auva Speiser, Corey Swisher, Laura Twichel and Angela Vidrich.
The 2014 Montana Tech Student Employee of the Year award selection committee chose the winner based upon a letter of recommendation addressing the accomplishments of the nominee in the areas of Reliability, Initiative, Uniqueness of Contribution, Quality of Work, Professionalism and Community and Campus Service.
Kori Dyer is the 2014 Montana Tech SEOTY award winner. The Director of the Montana Tech Clark Fork Watershed Education Program (Cfwep.Org), Rayelynn Connole, nominated Kori for her excellent contributions and dedication to her responsibilities. Kori received a personalized medallion trophy and campus bookstore gift certificate in addition to an award certificate signed by Chancellor Blackketter and Associate Vice Chancellor Paul Beatty. Her name is listed on the Student Employee of the Year recognition plaque in Career Services.
Each year, the winner of the Montana Tech SEOTY award also competes among other Montana institution winners for the State SEOTY award. Kori was chosen as the Montana Student Employee of the Year; this is the first time that Montana Tech has won the State award! Kori received a plaque and check to recognize her outstanding work. Her information was forwarded for regional and possibly national review – the winner will be announced during National Student Employment Week, April 13 – April 19, 2014.
Rayelynn stated in the nomination materials that, “She [Kori] is dedicated in every way possible and has excellent follow-through with all of her tasks. Her dedication to all of her responsibilities is unmatched. She is a true inspiration to every person she touches.”
Montana Tech will also celebrate National Student Employment Week with daily drawings all week and an ice cream & cake social for all student employees on Wednesday, April 16th in the Student Union Building.
