Montana Tech Announces 2013 Achievement Awards

Montana Tech celebrated the hard work and dedication of its employees at a celebration recently. Tech presented its faculty and staff with the annual Rose and Anna Busch awards, Service Awards, Achievement Awards, and Distinguished Researcher Awards.

ROSE AND ANNA BUSCH AWARDS:
Each year, members of the campus community nominate and select outstanding faculty members for the annual Rose and Anna Busch Faculty Achievement Awards. This year, six awards were presented to faculty in each of the three schools/colleges and one for part-time faculty. The award honors those with outstanding teaching skills, including classroom effectiveness, collegiality, and accessibility; extensive campus or community service; and/or distinguished research/scholarship. The following faculty members were awarded the 2013 Rose and Anna Busch award:

MONTANA TECH GREEN CAMPUS AWARD:
In 2008, Kumar and Pankajam Ganesan initiated an awards program recognizing anyone on the Montana Tech campus--faculty, staff, or students--serving in any capacity whose contributions to green our campus are especially noteworthy. This award was initially awarded through the Associated Students of Montana Tech. In 2008, Mike Spenser and John Morrison received the award, in 2009 Shelley Reed and Amanda Richard, a student, were awarded the honor and in 2012 Bill Ryan, Jim Kilgore and David Hutchins won the award. The 2013 recipient is Wilma Immonen, administrative assistant, Biology & Chemistry Department

PAUL AND PAULETTE MILLER AWARD:           
The award was presented to Doug Coe, dean of the College of Letters, Sciences, & Professional Studies.

MONTANA TECH SERVICE AWARDS:
Montana Tech acknowledged the following faculty and staff members for their years of service to Montana Tech:

MONTANA TECH ADVISOR OF THE YEAR:
The Associated Students of Montana Tech (ASMT) presented Maggie Peterson, Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance and Circle K Advisor, with the Advisor of the Year Award.

RESEARCH AWARDS:
Each year the Montana Tech Research Office makes several awards to honor and reward those faculty and staff who have contributed to the success of the campus research and scholarly activity enterprise.

DISTINGUISHED RESEARCHER AWARDS:
The awards went to Suzan Gazioglu, associate professor, Mathematical Sciences; Rajendra Kasinath, associate professor, Environmental Engineering; and Nicholas Tucci, assistant research professor, Montana Bureau of Mines & Geology

LIFETIME DISTINGUISHED RESEARCHER AWARD:
The Lifetime Distinguished Researcher Award went to Rick Rossi, professor and department head, Mathematical Sciences.
