Highlands College announced today that faculty member Dennis Noel has won its first ever Faculty Merit Award. The Highlands College Faculty Merit Award was created and approved through a partnership between Montana Tech and the Highlands College faculty union, the Vocational-Technical Educators of Montana #4610.
“I am very proud that Highlands College has developed a Faculty Merit Program for our hardworking faculty,” said Dr. John M. Garic, Dean of Highlands College. “I am also glad that Dennis was the first winner of this faculty award.”
Noel’s award was based on his work on the Highlands College Fence Project. In addition to the great work on the Fence Project, Noel also involved his students in the design, fabrication and installation of the fence.
“Dennis provided his students an invaluable experience,” said Bill Ryan, Chair of the Trades & Technical Department. “The students not only got real-world application experience, they will always feel the pride of knowing they helped Highlands College in such a visible way.”
