On December 10, 2012, Montana Tech student Ashleigh Preston did something she never could have imagined. At Star Lanes Bowling Center in Butte, Preston bowled a perfect 300 game. According to Frank Martinich with Star Lanes, Ashleigh is the first female to bowl a perfect game in league and the second female in Butte’s bowling history to roll a perfect score. Also on this night, Preston bowled a three game series: 181, 235, 300 for a 716 series. “I ended the second game with the last 6 strikes and got the next 12 the last game getting a total of 18 strikes in a row,” explained Preston.
Ashleigh, who is from Butte, is majoring in Radiological Technology at Montana Tech. She bowls three leagues per week, which includes a Friday night team with Montana Tech. On the perfect game night, she was bowling for the Metals Sports Bar team on the Sunrise League.
“It was really exciting,” noted Preston. “I didn’t expect this to happen to me. I have never been so nervous, I thought I was going to pass out.” Ashleigh has been bowling for 12 years and says this was a dream come true.
