Suicide Prevention - Campus Safety
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college and university students, but is one of the most preventable causes of death. Montana Technological University provides training to members of our community to help them stop suicide. We also have certified counselors on staff who can help you.

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is guided by certified trainers and is a program designed for everyone to learn what can be done to prevent suicide. QPR is a one-hour, interactive presentation where you will learn the signs of suicide and three basic principles of how to save a life. QPR is designed for students, faculty and staff and anyone at Montana Tech. A QPR session can be arranged at a convenient time for your group or organization.
The QPR curriculum is nationally recognized by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations as a “Best Practices” program. The training incorporates the basic core curriculum, interactive case studies, and opportunities for questions and discussion. Informational handout will be provided to participants to be used in their work and personal lives. The QPR presentation and materials are free.
