Placements help students understand where they are in math and/or writing so they can plan their courses accordingly.
Students have the option to arrange for another college or local library to proctor placement assessments.
Earn college credit by exam through the College-Level Examination Program that can be used at any college in Montana.

- All assessments have a one-time proctor fee of $25 to be paid on test day unless otherwise discussed with the proctor.
- Students taking placement assessments must bring their Montana Tech or high school student ID.
- All items must be stowed away when testing, including cell phones and smart watches.
- Students who need testing accommodations due to a documented disability should work with Disability Services to coordinate accessible testing environments.
