Montana Tech Students Receive Scholarships from the Montana State Fund

Montana Technological University students received scholarships as part of the Montana State Fund’s (MSF’s) Growing a Safer Montana Scholarship Program. Fifteen students representing Occupational Safety & Health or industry trade programs were awarded $4,000 scholarships at a virtual award ceremony.

Historically, Montana is among the highest in the nation in workplace accidents and fatalities. “While we have seen accident frequency trending downward, room for improvement remains,” said Laurence Hubbard, President and CEO of MSF. “We applaud these students for taking the first step in improving Montana’s standing in the nation and look forward to working with them and their employers as an indispensable partner in achieving a safer, healthier and more prosperous Montana,” said Hubbard.

Montana State Fund is the State's Largest Workers' Compensation Insurance Company, Insuring Approximately 25,000 Montana Businesses, Organizations and Their Workers.

The Montana Tech scholarship recipients are: Cara O’Donnell, Occupational Safety & Health (Billings); Blake Nichols, Occupational Safety & Health (Helena); Sadiq Inuwa, Occupational Safety & Health (Nigeria, Africa); Mary India Ortgies, Industrial Hygiene (Texas); Layne Willis, Industrial Hygiene (Laurel), and Mac Hauck, Construction Technology & Welding (West Yellowstone).
