Montana Tech's Institute for Educational Opportunities Celebrates National TRIO Day

02/23/2021

High school and college students, teachers, members of Congress, alumni, and staff of Montana Technological University’s TRIO programs will celebrate over 27 years of student success.

Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 and to protect the safety of our scholars, Montana Tech will have a virtual celebration on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Scholars from federal TRIO programs such as Talent Search, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math-Science, and Student Support Services, in the communities of Anaconda, Butte, and Helena, will all take part in the day.

Enacted by a Congressional Resolution in 1986, TRIO Day is a national call to citizens from all walks of life to come together to promote educational access and success in communities where TRIO programs continue to create change.

TRIO is a federally recognized educational outreach program designed for students with disadvantaged backgrounds. It offers a comprehensive set of services through three different programs: Student Support Services, Upward Bound, and Upward Bound Math and Science. These programs target individuals from ninth grade through adulthood.
