Montana Tech Events Going Virtual

04/08/2020

digger-con-digital.jpgTypically, spring brings throngs of prospective students to Montana Technological University’s hilltop campus in Butte for tours and recruitment events. However, this spring, with all in-person events suspended, the visits are virtual, and the popular events will be delivered online. The university has chosen online teleconferencing via Zoom to help students get a feel for student life at Montana Tech without having to leave their homes.

“We’re excited about the programming we have lined up for them on Zoom, said Executive Director of Admissions and Enrollment Leslie Dickerson. “We’d rather host the events in-person on campus, but we’re committed to helping our future Orediggers prepare for their extraordinary futures, despite the current restrictions.”

The campus’ admissions team is excited about a new signature registration event for admitted students called Digger Con Digital, to be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. MDT. The event will feature a welcome address from Chancellor Les Cook and a panel discussion with current students, faculty, and alumni. The event will conclude with a registration session where students will receive their fall course schedules.

The university’s Tech Day open house will also take place online, on Thursday, April 16, at 11:00 a.m. MDT. Tech Day Online is geared toward prospective students from sophomores in high school to non-traditional students returning to school after time in the workforce. Tech Day Online will offer attendees informative sessions about life at Montana Tech and the admissions process, followed by a selection of online lab sessions for a first-hand perspective on coursework.

The university has also transitioned in-person campus visits to virtual visits through Zoom. The virtual visits have been an effective way to continue to show prospective students all that Montana Tech and Highlands College have to offer. Admissions Events Coordinator, Hailey Caprara, added, “Our students are awesome, they’ve been so understanding. Honestly, I think they’re just happy to know that we’re still excited to have them join us in the fall.”
