Dr. Das graduated with a B.Tech. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, a premier technological institute in India. He also received his M.Tech. degree from there. He went on to get his doctoral degree from the University of Utah and worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Kentucky. Before joining Montana Tech in 2015, Dr. Das worked in various capacities as Research Scientist and Academician in India.
Dr. Das has contributed significantly through various research projects on coal and mineral beneficiation, recycling of electronic waste, fine particle processing, recovery of valuables from smelter slag, alternative technology development for steelmaking, etc. His work on advanced gravity concentration has earned him lot of recognition. His research has been a fine blend of industrial relevance and academic excellence. He has aptly been rewarded with a large number of research projects through which he generated important knowledge bases and educated large number of students. He has many publications to his credit that speak for him. His latest work on waste slag processing has been published in high quality journals for its application potential as well as scholarly nature. Dr. Das is currently working on recycling of slags and plastics and processing of lean natural resources. Dr. Das routinely reviews scholarly articles for a large number of professional journals in the areas of Minerals Processing and Extractive Metallurgy, Recycling, and Waste Utilization.
