A brief welcome to campus by Director of Admissions, Leslie Dickerson, followed by a brief message from Montana Tech’s Admissions Team.

1:30 -2:30             Experiential Learning Sessions

At Montana Tech we believe you learn by doing! Pick from one of the following experiential learning sessions and find out just how hands on Montana Tech is!

  • Makey Makey Boards – NRB 228
    Explore Computer Science and Software Engineering with Professor Brent Donoven as you learn how to write a program to make a cat move around using bananas.
  • Working at Heights – NRRC OSH Lab
    Join Professor Theresa Stack from our Occupational Safety & Health Program in the fall protection simulation lab as she shows you how to keep the job site safe while working at extreme heights.
  • Being Your Own Super Hero – S&E 106
    Learn how to save the planet with one simulation lab at a time! Join faculty from Environmental Engineering simulating (a) forest fire smoke to discover harmful air particles, (b) mine waste leachate studies to understand water quality concerns, and (c) thermal imaging of surface water bodies to quantify groundwater interactions.
  • A&P Cadaver Lab CBB 005
    Students that attend this experiential learning session will get to witness a dissection in our cadaver lab, as well as will have the opportunity to learn more about our Biology department. Are you interested in learning more about the anatomy of the human body or health sciences? This session could be great for you! Don’t forget to fill out a permission slip if you are under 18.

3:30 -4:20             Experiential Learning Sessions – Various

  • Campus Tour
  • Rock Breaking Extravaganza – MG 007
    Join Professor Scott Rosenthal in our Geomechanics lab in the Mining and Geology Building. In this lab, Scott will do a rock crushing demonstration. This lab works to understand the properties of materials, in order to safely create openings between rocks when mining.
  • Simulated Nursing Experience Health Sciences Building – Nursing Department
    Join our Nursing department in the Health Sciences Building to witness a simulation. See our high tech nursing facilities and visualize what it would be like as a student in Montana Tech’s Nursing Program. Learn more about the experiences students have, and understand what it is that makes the Digger Nursing Program Special.
  • A&P Cadaver Lab CBB 005
    Students that attend this experiential learning session will get to witness a dissection in our cadaver lab, as well as will have the opportunity to learn more about our Biology department. Are you interested in learning more about the anatomy of the human body or health sciences? This session could be great for you! Don’t forget to fill out a permission slip if you are under 18.

4:30 – 5:30            Experiential Learning Sessions – Various

  • Metallurgical and Materials – ELC 000
    Whether it is extracting and purifying metals from ore, synthesizing and shaping polymers, or designing alloys and ceramics for specific applications, the Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Department educates students on the processes used in the production of materials and provides them with the skills to excel in a number of related engineering fields. Today, we will be demonstrating a number of metallurgical and material processes to provide a better understanding of what you can expect from this degree field."
  • BIT Jeopardy! – CBB 001
    Play the game of BIT Jeopardy! Join Charie Faught to learn all about the Business and Information Technology Degree and its options (Accounting, Health Information Technology, Management of Information, and Management of Natural Resources). The live game is hosted in one of the innovation classrooms on campus. Participants will compete for prizes and learn about the great prospects of becoming a BIT major. No previous experience necessary to play!
  • Learn to Program a Robotic Car - Main Hall 205
    Students will put their skills to the test as they learn binary code, apply it to a robot and program he robot to follow a black line.  Those who want to learn more about electrical engineering, robotics, and/or computer science are encouraged to come and engage.  Each pair of students will program a robot themselves.

Overnight Stay Option

Extend your Tech Day experience with an overnight stay in student housing! On Saturday, prepare for excitement as the Oredigger football team takes on the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears.

Montana Tech Campus Life Coordinator Jocelyn Bjornstad will lead an evening of fun, games, and entertainment, letting you experience campus residence life first hand.

Thanks to a generous community donation, dinner, breakfast, and football tickets are provided at no cost!
