Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs/Provost

Before his work at Montana Tech, Dr. Steven Gammon was the Provost and Dean of the Faculty at the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK). He also served as the Executive Vice President for Collaboration and Strategic Alliances at UMFK and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. His role as the Executive Vice President for Collaboration was to form academic and non-academic partnerships between the two universities. Gammon worked closely with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs for the University of Maine System (UMS) as well as provost at the other UMS campuses.

Gammon served as the VPAA at Rocky Mountain College in Billings and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. Previous to this, Gammon was at Western Washington University for ten years. He served as the Chair of the WWU chemistry department for five years. He started his faculty career at the University of Idaho in chemistry, where he attained the rank of full professor. He has done two sabbaticals serving on the faculty at the United States Air Force Academy.

Gammon received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Chemistry and Chemical Education and his B.A. in Chemistry from Bowdoin College.
