Why did you choose to attend Montana Tech?

I initially chose Montana Tech due to the great school and the academic excellence.

I wanted to go and get the best education that I could while still being in the great state of Montana.

After attending Montana Tech, I fell in love with the community and culture on this campus.

What inspired you to take part in the Associated Students of Montana Tech (ASMT)?

I wanted to make a positive impact on campus that would help my fellow students succeed in their own Montana Tech experience. I was a senator for 2 years before I become ASMT President. I have a great Vice President and Treasurer in my executive team. Through our mutual support, we have been working on making changes to benefit the student population.

One of those positive changes is the Montana Tech Food Pantry, can you tell us about it?

The Montana Tech Food Pantry is a student-ran service that provides nutritional support to students that are struggling to provide for themselves. When a student is struggling with hunger, they are unable to focus on their schoolwork.

Going to college and achieving goals can be hard enough by itself. If the student has two or three jobs and cannot afford to meet their nutritional needs, achieving their goals is no longer the main motivator in their life.

The Montana Tech Food Pantry is one small way that we can help these students achieve their goals.

What drew you to pursue a degree in Nursing?

I was first interested to the medical field and I thought that I wanted to be a doctor. After following a local nurse in a job shadow, I found that I wanted to be more directly involved in the patient’s care.

I enjoy helping and caring for people. As a nurse, I will be able to make an even larger impact in my patients' lives.

What has impacted you most within Montana Technological University's Nursing program?

My cohort has been a huge help and driving source for my success. Without them, I would not have been able to succeed in the Nursing program. We are like one big team.

What are your plans career plans after graduating from Montana Technological University?

I am planning to accept an ER Nurse Residency. After 2-3 years, I would like to go back to school and become a Nurse Practitioner.

Montana Tech has provided me with the skills and tools that I need to be successful in my career as nurse.

Outside of school, how do you spend your time?

I currently have two jobs, volunteer with the 4-H club from my hometown, and I like to hang out with my friends.

Outside in Montana is one of the best places that a person can be.

If you could share one piece of advice with incoming students, what would it be?

For incoming students, Montana Tech is one of the most challenging institutions in Montana. You are getting the best education that you could receive. You will have the support of a community when you arrive at Montana Tech.

Make friends and enjoy your experience because 4 years is not as long as you think.
