Department of Biology Speaker Series

You’re invited to the Department of Biology Spring Speaker Series presentation by Dr. Matthew S. Becker, CEO Zambian Carnivore Programme, Affiliate Research Faculty, Department of Ecology, MSU. Dr. Becker’s presentation is titled “Large Carnivore Conservation in Zambia: An Overview of the Zambian Carnivore Programme.” His presentation will take place on Thursday, February 7 at 4 pm in CBB 102 on the Montana Tech campus. All are welcome to attend.

About the speaker:
Matt grew up in Bozeman and following high school spent the next decade plus working on a variety of field research projects in North America, Antarctica and Africa, earning a bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison along the way.  He received his Ph.D. in wildlife biology at Montana State’s Department of Ecology in 2008, where he studied wolf-elk-bison dynamics in Central Yellowstone.  Prior to graduation he accepted a position as the project manager of an African wild dog project in Zambia and in the ensuing years, with the help of numerous collaborators, the project broadened into a nationwide program working on all large carnivore species: wild dog, lion, cheetah, hyena, leopard,  their prey, and habitats in one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich countries.
